Jets fans tends Lombardi's grave

Discussion in 'Sports and News' started by Evil ... Thy name is Orville Redenbacher!!, May 26, 2011.

  1. Cool little story about the self-designated caretaker of Vince Lombardi's grave..
    http://packersnews.greenbaypressgazette.com/article/20110525/PKR07/110525208/Unofficial-caretaker-Gary-Martin-New-Jersey-tends-Vince-Lombardi-s-grave-purely-out-respect

The puzzling thing is the comments from Deadspin (I know I know) which linked the article.
Didn't Wright Thompson do the piece on Lombardi's house and speak to the daughter? Where do these abuse claims come from?

At least according to Wiki, which does have a couple citations for his entry, he probably wasn't the world's greatest dad but seemed to become aware of it later in life:

But from this ESPN column from March 2011, it sounds like at least one of them had reconciled or never held that ill of feelings:

If yelling and tirades are abuse, we were all abused as kids, or should have been -- and deservedly so.

It's a fine line, and it's hard to know the difference in writing, I admit. Much like Potter Stewart, I get the feeling most people know it when they see it when it comes to abusive screaming and just frustration.
