He was frequently "difficult". He was a Dakota boy, was hardly prepared for the enormous pressures he faced, and didn't run with the "whiskey slick" Mantle/Ford crowd . . . he was much more comfortable in St. Louis, which is not at all surprising . . .

So Jeter declines MLB's wish to celebrate him at the All-Star game, citing 'emotional and physical exhaustion,' and MLB is not pleased.

    Who's right on this one?

Jeter, in a gallop. He's gone through an exhausting physical/mental process, he was hurt not that long ago, he's clearly in physical decline, and he just came from playing a weekend series in Tampa and he's headed for Toronto right after the break. These are days off he badly needs. Screw Selig.

Now can we say it was a stupid thing to do? On top of the loan debt, the guy is probably going to have to pay for the taxes on the loot the Yankees gave him.

Jeter should pick up the tab himself.

I dunno . . . in today's economy, there may not be much more of a complete disconnect than gap between the face value of top-shelf Yankee tickets -- and their associated bid prices in the aftermarket,
in the vast majority of cases . . .
