Jeff Fisher on McNair

Discussion in 'Sports and News' started by BYH, Jul 7, 2009.

  1. Not judging McNair at all here. But this often stated excuse doesn't hold water. We are "wired" to use force and cunning whenever possible to get what we want in life. We are wired to do everything from lying to one's wife to rape and murder. Hoever, society creates socail norms and laws to curb our behavior in order to benefit society as a whole.

Jeff Fisher was not scheduled to speak today at McNair's funeral.

He was called to the podium, though, and shared the experience of how he often held McNair's hand when they recited the Lord's Prayer just before games in the locker room. He mentioned today that he sometimes does the same with Vince Young.

Fisher said, "Their grips feel the same," and he called Young up to the podium.

Then they recited the Lord's Prayer.

    Powerful stuff.

Given the hands that Fisher and Dungy have been dealt, Fisher is an infinitely-better game
coach than Dungy is, but this isn't the appropriate place for an extended discussion of
    THAT . . .
