BTW, props to Moddy for making "Chief" an accepted name for Cordero.

The concept of JJ Putz blowing saves in Boston is almost too delicious for words. can you imagine the Herald backpage? WHAT A PUTZ!!!!!

WTF is the fascination with JD Drew? The guy's a 21st Century Chris Brown. I'm waiting for him to go on the DL with a strained eyelid.

Every GM who signs this guy thinks this will be the place where Drew beats the Injury Bug. Uh no, once you have the Injury Bug it never goes away.

Big difference when you can be tucked at DH when something is flaring up.

Yeah, because it's not like the Red Sox don't already have a guy who can only DH. You might have heard of him. Pretty big fella. Dominican.

They are going to tuck Drew in at DH and sit Ortiz? Not likely.

Don't forget, it was 18 million + Marte, the best positional prospect the Sox have had since...Hanley Ramirez?

And Pierre can actually play centerfield, which Crisp can't.

Boston's center fielder for the next 15 years will start in Portland or Pawtucket this year. Fellow by the name of Ellsbury.

The Braves don't trade stud prospects.

Dude's got more lives than Jason and Freddy. He'll be back to scream and yell and fling shit at us within hours.

I'll take that bet and I'll add in he won't play 120 games this year.

If Drew gets 14 per, does that mean Nixon should get 10? Drew = Nixon + 25%

Also, even if Manny stays, Willy Mo would still be the 4th outfielder. I shudder to think what would happen if Pena got 600 ABs. Why anyone throws him a fastball is beyond me.

I seriously doubt Marte will ever be the star people keep predicting he'll be. Getting rid of him while his value was high was the best move the Sox could have made (although getting someone better that Coco probably would have helped). In 220 major league at bats, he's hit a wicked .204. He could still be a solid player, but no way is he a star. In a perfect world, they'd have gotten Marte, then used him to get Beckett, and hung onto H. Ramirez, but then, the best move would have been to not sign Renteria in the first place.
