Jake Plummer to call it quits?

My fiancee noticed on EPSN's scroll during our Friday Lent lunch that Jake Plummer was going to be shipped to the Bucs, where he would compete with Chris Simms for the starting job. I just glanced at ESPN one last time before going to work and noticed that now they've got a story that says he might rather retire than play in another city.

Anyone else surprised by this? I had never heard Plummer's name and "retirement" in the same sentence until today.

Sportschick wept last night when she read this:

And more this morning when she read this:

I may go into full-on mourning mode soon.

Jake has a bit of a farmer's tan going on there. :D

I love this move by Plummer. Way to go Jake.

Why not? He's got his pile, and with the Bucs, he'd be wholly exposed as the mediocrity he is.

I've heard that Jake's mom has said he's retiring. Nothing from the Broncos, Bucs or Jake himself yet.

The Idaho Statesman makes you weep?

BTW, if you were weeping, Peter King must have been damn-near inconsolable.

This will all change overnight when the Broncos agree to trade him to Houston...

Bad news for the AFC West. The Broncos will be a much better team without Mr. Joke.

You do realize that Mr. Joke had a better winning percentage with the Broncos than Old Horse Mouth (the exalted one) did.
