It's looking like it's probably a false claim though. The plane wasn't on take off or landing, when it would be most vulnerable.

 

I suppose it is possible that they were responsible for smuggling a bomb aboard. I don't think it was ground fire at 31,000 feet. More likely they are just claiming it... but they want to claim it, the Russians will bomb them as if they had done it.
