John Salley says Zeke is the greatest he's ever played with.

This just in: John Salley is an idiot.

Drip's headline is incorrect, for those who care. Sally says within the story (he actually said this to Colin Cowherd) that Magic is the best player ever, and Thomas is the best player he ever played with (which is noteable, I guess, because he played with Shaq and Kobe at the end of his career.)

I can make an argument Magic is better than Jordan and I'll probably lose, but I can at least entertain the argument. Not even Jim Dolan or Bobby Knight could make a credible case for Zeke as the GOAT.

    Salley also played with Jordan.

Magic's place in NBA history, either in the top 10 or the top three, depends on how you view his early retirement. If you project his numbers out to accommodate for a normal finish, he might be Jordan's chief competition. Of course, if you're doing that, you also might be inclined to add back the four seasons Jordan skipped while retired the first two times.

Also, Salley said on TV a few years ago that Jordan was the greatest:

Regardless of the context, my statement still stands.

Headline is not wrong. He said Magic is the best he played against. Zeke is the greatest he played with. I just stretched it a bit but the bottom line is that Zeke is GOAT to Salley.

No, the headline definitely is wrong. For one, Chamberlain is never assessed in any of Salley's statements. Also, Salley played against Thomas, so if he's to be taken literally, he is saying Johnson was better than Thomas.

If John Salley says Zeke is the greatest he's ever played with, why argue with his assessment? He's entitled to have an opinion.

I didn't realize John Salley had played with Wilt Chamberlain.

'Greatest I ever played with' is not equivalent to 'Greatest of All Time.'

Eric Montross is the greatest I ever played with. It was volleyball, but still.
