Is Willie Randolph in Trouble?

If the Mets tank will Willie be gased? The rumors are ranpant that he has pissed a lot of folks off in the front office. If he is dumped how long before the first Bill Rhoden column appears claiming it was race related.

I hope its not the case because I think he has done a great job. In the end it all comes down to pitching.

 

How has he done a great job?

He has taken a team that should by 10 games up and held it back with the pack.
His comatose demeanor has allowed the team to be sloppy and careless with no accountabliity.
He has overused the same suspects out of the pen...Mota who totally sucks, Sosa who was fine until Willie decided he could pitch every day and twice on Sundays and now his arm is falling off.
He is now ignoring Feliciano. He has 2 kids up all month -- Humber and Collazo -- who he has not used even it blowout/mop-up situations to save some of the other dead arms.
He played Reyes everyday until he started to fall apart, now has no choice but to play him when he looks totally shot physically and mentally... not like a few days off in June could have helped.

The only thing saving him is that he got as big extension after last season and the Wilpons do not want to eat the contract.
He did a decent job last season when the team was playing great. As things went bad this year, he has no clue how to get them back on track.

 

You know what we need around here? A thread where we could discuss all the various issues regarding Major League Baseball in one thread.

Willie's not in trouble--yet--but he's hardly done a great job with the 2007 Mets.

 

Willie is doing nothing different than was his mentor has succsfully done in the Bronx. Keep an even keel.
