Is this a "calling" for you?

Is it a calling? I'd have to say so.

There isn't any other way to put it really because I don't think too many people would openly seek writing 500-word "essays" every day for very little pay. I was told that I was crazy to become a journalist in the state it is in. I was too far in it to stop attempting it.

Did I want to be a journalist growing up? It was in the back of mind, but once I got to college it became clear that it was something I had to at least give a try to.

Calling? Yes. Long-term career? Time will tell.
