Those receivers didn't throw themselves the ball. You're grasping with this argument against him.

So how is that different from Kelly?

Put Warner's record as a starter up against Kelly's and you have your answer.

I want to know if there is a single Super Bowl Era QB who made the HOF with just 101 starts.

    Warner's record as a starter: 57-44.
    Kelly's record as a starter: 101-59.

If that's the criteria, fair enough.

Does anyone really think Warner was a better QB than Jim Kelly?

A short career. But he'll get in for the same reasons that Joe Namath and Lynn Swann (who probably had fewer career starts than Warner) did: his memorable moments have been very memorable. It's what Waylon said. His wife knows who he is. That with his career boosts him.

Who cares? I thought the argument was if Warner is a HOFer. Not Warner vs. Kelly.

When you start the "but he had HOF-worthy receivers and running backs around him" argument, you're reaching.

Also why I don't mind the five-year waiting period.

Let's see just how good the Cardinals are next year with Leinart in charge...and the year after that...and the year after that.

Warner changed the culture of two wayward franchises.

Until Kurt Warner, the only uniform the Arizona Cardinals had worth retiring was : "85 - TIDWELL"

    Marc Bulger.
    Eli Manning as a rookie.
    Josh McCown.
    Matt Leinart.

Kurt Warner has been benched -- or replaced when injured, then not immediately reinserted into the starting lineup on becoming healthy again -- for all of these quarterbacks.

Phil Simms was probably my favorite football player, but the injuries and an offense that relied on the run more than the pass will rightly keep him out.

But Michael Gee is right. Warner is a Hall of Famer.
