Is Jake Delhomme the worst QB in the NFL?

Then clearly, the answer to the question posed at the start of the thread is "No. Alex Smith."

Smith is bad. Hill is ugly.
Hill is 8-3 as a starter. He's not getting supplanted, but he is hard to watch.

Now that he "won" the starting job in Cleveland,
    Brady Quinn

What about that tall guy currently starting for the Raiders?

    He sucks.

Byron Leftwich looked yesterday like he's being held together with baling wire and duct tape. Didn't play poorly, but man he looked rough. Luke McCown must really suck.

Daunte Culpepper is the worst QB to receive substantial PT over the last 3 seasons, in a neck-and-neck decision over Jon Kitna.

One INT was a tip drill that was Jake's fault because he threw it well behind the wideout - not an intentional back-shoulder throw, either.

Another one was forced into Ritalin Child, and the way the route was jumped, it was as if the Eagles DB saw a tendency in the Arizona game tape.

Yet another was a long bomb Jake tried to throw to Ritalin Child ... that one wasn't really awful in terms of the effort, but it was either the third or fourth (lost count by then ... was laughing too hard to remember).

Delhomme can handle the adversity ... the Observer's Tom Sorensen made it clear that, as usual, he sat down with the media and answered every question. Not surprising given Jake's stand-up reputation. But he's got to do something to regain his confidence.

Not once did the offense try a quick-out to Ritalin Child ... surprising given that Delhomme seems to have the ability to audible if the corner isn't lined up close enough. He did try it once with Moose, only for Jake to miss him, not an easy feat given Moose's size.

Jake's fighting like hell, but is that enough? Stay Tuned.

All you assholes saying Shaun Hill need to remember, Shaun Hill took Maryland, fucking Maryland, to an Orange Bowl.

Shaun Hill won't ever see Hawaii unless he pays for himself to get there. But he's not the WORST QB out there.

Fighting like hell is noble, but if he continues to play like (expletive), it won't mean much. The fact that the Panthers gave Delhomme a five-year, $42 million contract with $20 million guaranteed after that playoff loss to the Cardinals continues to astound me.

And I'll back what Headbutt says about Shaun Hill, a good kid from southeast Kansas who latched on with Hutchinson CC and improbably led the Terps to an Orange Bowl. He's far from the worst quarterback out there. And so long as he continues to win games, that won't change.

That's Shaun Hill, the QB of the NFC West-winning 49ers to you, Buck.

Like what? Crap? Shit? Cow-molesting assfucks? The Oklahoma City Thunder?

In defense of the contract, and to a degree Delhomme, he *did* have a pretty good season for the most part and had been a solid performer for a while. It wasn't as though he strung together a series of five-INT games, THEN he got the extension.

He'll probably rebound. When he's on, he's a perfectly capable quarterback and actually doesn't make all that many mistakes. He's never going to be a god tier QB and probably has no business on any fantasy rosters, but he's far from the worst.

That said, it's 2:17 a.m. and Jake Delhomme has just thrown another interception.

It was little more than combining the coaching staff and management's support with trying to get a little cap relief. Basically, it turned more of his previous contract into guaranteed money, meaning they wouldn't have to cut a bunch of guys loose. As a result, only Ken Lucas was sent off.

I completely agree with your first statement, Oz, but while it's not enough to sustain Delhomme, he's not playing victim, not acting like a punk and won't lose this fight standing up. Can't ask for much more than that mentally from someone who is trying to dig out of his own deep hole of confidence.

Meat, we get your Delhomme-throws-another-INT joke. But it stopped being funny a while back.
