Of course, the NFL Ticket brings in people who may not get DirecTV. The other packages not so much.

Until they see how much better DirecTV does with those packages as compared to InDemand (cable).

I got a channel that shows 8 games at once. I push a button, I get a running up-to-date boxscore for the game on the screen. I push another button, I get league leaders. I push another button, I get up-to-date standings. I got two feeds for each game, when possible. I get every HD feed when they're available.

I'd be stoked if they did that with porn.

If you ordered the Extra Innings package thru Time Warner last year, check your bill! I bought it, and lo and behold, there it was again popping up on my newest cable bill. Except that I hadn't ordered it again.

Plus, it's $199.96 this year instead of $149. So an extra $200 was on my bill.

"It was authorized in December," said the customer-service woman.

Uh, no. It was automatically renewed in December without my knowledge. Then she told me she couldn't take it off my bill b/c she was only authorized for a $60 credit. A supervisor would have to call me back within 48-72 hours. They must be real busy calling people back to fix fuckups! THEN when I wanted to pay my past-due amount, she said I had to pay $5.

I told her I would use the automated service rather than pay them to let me pay them. Luckily, that didn't work when she transferred me back to the computer. So she brought me back, and miraculously was able to waive the Extra Innings fee and take my payment.

To summarize: Extra Innings is $50 more this year, Time Warner will automatically renew you without telling you, and it'll take a supervisor three days to call you back and fix it. Unless they screw something else up while you're on the phone; then they can do it all right then.

  5. Remember when customer service was helpful? Those were the good old days. .

Most times these days it's "customer no service." And that's if you can make it through all of the prompts to actually talk to somebody instead of a maze of recordings.
