Is Beck a Hall of Famer?

Not Rod Beck - not even Jeff Beck - just Beck. Sure I don't think any of his songs or CD's have gone to #1 but the guy has been relevant for decades. Is Beck even eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame yet? How does that work?

Has to be 25 years since your first record release, so no, he's not eligible for another 6 or 7 years.

 

Thinking about this is giving me a holocranial headache.

Has any major magazine broached this question? I mean Beck has to be in the same class as Big Audio Dynamite. Right?

Seriously, Beck Hansen (if that's who we're talking about) is a one-hit wonder to the general public, but has a great and enduring rep to his acolytes.

Right now, he's a "classic cult artist," kinda like a Nick Drake or Richard Thompson.

 

What about Barry Beck?

 

He's not for everyone and will probably never get to the HOF, but he is also a very gifted artist. Not for everyone, but still damn good.

His ear for taking everyday sounds and creating music is pretty amazing.

 

I'd vote for him. Saw him in concert on the Odelay tour. Great show.

It's isn't so much the speed, but all the cough syrup he drank.

 

Well, we know he'll still be going strong 1,000 years from now on the Monsters of Vaguely Folkish Alterna-rock circuit.
