Internships

    If you can swing it financially, go for the unpaid internship. It will give you better ecperience than sweeping floors all summer. You might also disocover that newspapers expect you to work long hours for little or no pay. That may cause you too look at other careers that actually put money in your pocket. So you see, it could be a great decision to take an unpaid internship.

    Sorry, no offense, but I've got to disagree as well. My first two internships were unpaid, and I spent one summer eating mostly plain spaghetti and all, but I got golden clips out of them and landed a sweet internship (that actually paid well!) the following summer.

    I'd say definitely try for an unpaid internship if you can afford it, rather than wait tables and write the occasional freelance piece.
