The Indianapolis Star is looking for an accomplished and passionate multimedia journalist to cover Indiana University sports. The person must be a self-starter who can thrive in a high-profile, competitive job.
We’re looking for someone to live in Bloomington and deliver well-written, thoroughly reported stories that demonstrate an instinct for true enterprise journalism. We want someone to serve an audience with an insatiable appetite for every aspect of IU basketball news --- delivered across all digital devices, social media and print. The person should be versatile, as comfortable appearing on video as filing a public records request. This job is for someone who wants to live in a dynamic college town and be a major part of an ambitious, inventive sports department.
To be considered, you should have:
    • A proven ability to break news on a beat: Experience developing contacts and sources, a track record of getting the story first.
    • Strong writing skills: Ability to provide strong analysis, as well as in-depth features and enterprise.
    • Video knowledge: Ability to shoot video and on-camera experience; video editing experience would be a plus.
    • Social media success: Proven ability to develop a strong following and engage that audience.
At least three years covering a major sports beat is required.
Previous experience covering college basketball or college football is preferred. Education: bachelor's degree is preferred.
