It took a while for everyone to figure out they should be outraged by what Imus said. Once they did, it was like a boulder rolling downhill.

This is beyond Imus comment. It gave a bunch of empty suits an excuse to settle old scores of Imus making fun of them.

Over the years he was unmerciful to Moonves.

I know it did not sit well with CBS executives that Imus made fun of Katie Couric and the falling ratings of the evening news over past month. He would never follow party line. In end that is what did him in.

  4. I agree this is much more than one stupid comment. But if he doesn't make the latest stupid comment, he still has a job.

Its not Imus losing that annoys me, it's the fact that those two gasbags Rev. Reggie and Al, won.

And the only way Imus jumps to Sirius is if Howard approves.

Funny, I anxiously await the day anyone on ESPN - Mike & Mike, Dan Patrick, Rome, whoever - slams the network for a personnel move. Did anyone twitch when Sean Salisbury was suspended? When Irvin was fired? Doubt anyone would be allowed to comment on Chris Berman's departure.

OOP, you may hate them even more. There's talk that they might spilt them up and have Fatso do the morning shift and Fruit Loops stay on the afternoon drive.

  8. Don't even get my hopes up like that.

I love how our resident conservatives are now in favor of socialism.

Folks, this isn't about "spine" or "chickenshit moves." It's about money.

The advertisers bailed, so the networks bailed. The advertisers didn't want to be associated with Imus, and that's their right.

    It's called capitalism.

In a socialist society CBS would've kept Imus because he didn't "deserve" to be fired.

Think about your positions on this, folks.

No way he goes to satellite; not while the merger proposal is undergoing government scrutiny.

"Breakfast with the Big Boy'' perhaps?
Or maybe, "Shutup, I know more than you.''
Or maybe Mikey and Parcells can just spend 4 hours poring over the Daily Racing Form

  12. Lugs - just curious but what's your feelings about pulling federal funding from PBS and NPR?

I haven't read all the pages on this subject because I think its really a tempest in a teacup but I have to wonder what dollar amount Imus' contract was for and whether it had a termination clause that CBS could use to save some money?
