    i'm having a root canal umping nine year olds at 8 am tomorrow, and i was informed that ol' mickey morandini is coaching one of the teams. any good questions i should ask him? like...

    * could kruk devour an entire post-game spread?
    * was nails banging 16 year olds back in the day?
    * did he ever go for a ride with dutch daulton during one of his classic DUI binges?
    * is mitch williams still alive? do you even talk to him?
    * got any good vet stories?
    * indiana university, eh?
    * pitcher/player/coach you hated the most?
    * do you ever make an appearance in philly anymore?

    always like morandini growing up, he was a solid player. actually, now that i think about it, i could probably get a story out of this if i ask legitimate questions. but i'll worry about that tomorrow.

    dude has the same birthday as me, rack that.

    Same B-Day as Tug McGraw Ted Williams.

    Make sure you give Mickey the Harry Kalas-esque "Miiiiickey Mooorandini"

    I share a birthday with Irving Berlin which, given my profession, is probably more appropriate than a sports figure.

    Wrong, DyePack (wow, I've always wanted to say that here, and be right), it is the more commonly known Indiana University-Bloomington, Ind.

    His brother _ I think Jim Morandini - was a former sports editor in Butler, Pa.
    If anyone cares!

    Have Harry Kalas introduce him.

    (My favorite Harryisms are him saying Mickey's name and Michael Jack Schmidt)

    The only thing I remember about Morandini was his unassisted triple play. That must've been about the coolest thing you can do in the field.
