Nor does Ponder. I'm sure its coach will be none too happy when some of his basketball players don't play year-round to concentrate a few months on football.

Last season, Ponder was the most fundamentally sound team I've ever seen.

The AD at Ponder (Boxell) is also the boys' basketball coach, so either a) he's OK with it, or b) it was forced on him by the school board / administration.

Either way, the school is certainly big enough to support both. It's in that I-35W corridor between Fort Worth and Denton that's exploding. Ponder will certainly be a 3A school in a couple more realignments.

Where do you think 12 of the 15 players on the U.S. Olympic women's water polo team -- ranked No. 1 in the world -- came from?

Man, some of y'all need to get out more. World's a big place.

If getting out more means discovering high school water polo, I'll stay at home. ;)
