I'd like to encourage you to register for the BBWAA.com message board, if you haven't already (and most of you haven't).

We are trying to make the board a place for debate of various issues that we discuss at our meetings. Call it a virtual BBWAA meeting 365 days a year. There is also a directory of members (which needs updating) and a guide to ballparks (which needs updating).

See, the message board needs you! We'd like to get a significant portion of the membership signed up before the winter meetings, so those who aren't there can take part in the issues discussed.

To sign up, just go to http://bbwaa.com/board

Use your real name to register, and pick your own password. Piece of cake.

    Also, tell your BBWAA friends!

    Thanks.

No. BBWAA.com is public, but the message board isn't.

I know BBWAA members... does that mean I can read their posts but no one elses?

It's nice that all 33 active BBWAA members have their own secret message board, I guess.

There's a lot more than 33. Unless Rickey Henderson was elected to the Hall of Fame with 29 votes.

I'm talking about people who work covering baseball on a day-to-day basis, and actually find any value in BBWAA membership.

The Hall of Fame voters are people who have at least 10 years of membership, and the group includes a lot of people who haven't been anywhere near a ballpark in a long time.
