I'll also point out that only the Tigers have a better record than New York's National League team.

Not really. Oh, and it's Anibal Sanchez. Not Anibel. And yeah, they've got some talent — but all of 'em have good nights and bad nights and are playing under zero pressure, zero expectation. Let's see what any of 'em other than Willis do with 50,000 rocking Shea and a playoff series on the line. Sorry, I'll take the old guys who've been then and know how to show up when it's show time.

And for the long haul, the Mets have John Maine, Brian Bannister, Mike Pelfrey, Phil Humber and Oliver Perez. And a lot of cash to sign a FA this offseason. And way out there on the horizon: Deolis Guerra — 17 and pitching in the Florida State League.

It's not really fair to compare when the Mets are playing teams mostly comprised of 4-A players, while the Tigers, Twins, White Sox, Yankees etc. have to play real major leaguers all the time.

The question wasn't whether the Mets would trade hitters with the Marlins.

The Mets would absolutely trade starting fives with the Marlins straight up even if it were ONLY for the next two months.

If you don't believe it, you've got an incurable case of NY myopia.

All this talk about swapping rotations and such will be really funny when the Mets are waxed in four games in the NLDS.

All I know is, if healthy, the Mets would be fine. But who's ever healthy when you're five months into the season?

Glavine in postseason: 12-10, 3.58 ERA, all accrued in NL. Career regular-season ERA: 3.44.
Martinez in postseason: 5-3, 3.40 ERA, all accrued in AL. Career regular-season ERA: 2.72

By who, the Padres who they beat the shit out of? Or the Reds, who they beat the shit out of? Or the Cards who they beat the shit out of?

Either the Astros or Marlins get that wild-card spot. No way it's the Reds or Padres.

And the Mets would have majore trouble against either of those teams, though I suppose they wouldn't play the Marlins.

It would be nice if the Sros or Marlins got to .500 first before who statr giving one of home the wind card.
I believe the Stros are about 7th right now and they're not going anywhere.
