If AP isn't giving us college FB skeds until August ...

... can anybody think of a relatively painless way to wrestle those into a form I could use in the paper this summer, without having to type in all 119 skeds?

    Interns.

I'd say call some sports information offices but since they can't write, they probably can't help you.

That's a lot of phone calls. I'll stick with my intern suggestion. Or just run the most important skeds until AP releases the entire thing.

Try collegefootballnews.com. They usually do conference by conference previews that include team-by-team schedules. Maybe you can use those with some editing. Also, most conference web sites have skeds, some of them are team-by-team.

We have our interns type in all the high school schedules, sport-by-sport, each season. If we gave them college football schedules to do, with only 12 games, they'd probably be thanking us.

If you are immune from waiting for a story on a baseball game that ended at 10:10 for an SID story ... God forbid they go ahead and move the box score ... until 11:05, only to find that the story some kid (maybe) spent way too much time writing is impossible to read, only now there's no time to rewrite it because it's 11:11 and we have to go ... then I salute you.

Again, I stand by what I said on the other thread.

I find the SID offices that I deal with regularly to be, almost without fail, exceedingly helpful -- and, of course, in most locations that's their job. The writing thing? Not so much, sorry.

Is it their job to write for you?
We get boxes out right away. We post stories later. The newspapers we deal with do their own writing.

I'd go with the conference web sites. Apple+C, followed by Apple+V, is your friend.

Unless their format is to bold the home games, add the days of the week, note the conference games in blue, put asterisks around the homecoming games...

    Just playin'.

Lack of consistent formatting might be an issue.
