And it's this kind of thinking that leads us to dismiss the current threat against us.

Because the popular belief is now that Saddam was not a threat, too many want to dismiss any threat as overblown.

It's like when the weather forecasters predict doom before every storm. And then, because nothing happens, no one decides to evacuate before the big one really does hit.

Whatever Saddam's capabilities were, it does not mean that there is not still a very real, very determined threat from adherents of radical Islam.

Are you a big enough jackass to believe this is a political problem? That this some sort of fucking partisan punchline?

And maybe, if the left in the United States hadn't seen defeat and disgrace in Iraq as a political opportunity -- one they worked to achieve -- our results would have been better.

Maybe, Iran, instead of being emboldened by our lack of (political) fortitude, would have felt pressured by having our troops on both sides of their borders.

Maybe they would have capitulated like Kadafi did.

I'm sorry. What are or were you advocating for?

As you know, the entire world intelligence community, along with the leaders of the Democratic party, believed that Saddam was a threat.

Once military operations began, it would have only made things worse to abruptly withdraw.

    Is that what you want/wanted?

If so, your argument is no longer with me or with George W. Bush. It's with the current administration.

The question you should be asking the current administration is why they are escalating in Afghanistan.
