I run a lot of stuff through credit cards, for the cash back / rewards. It's free money. I barely use cash anymore. I have my cards set up so that whenever there is a purchase I get an immediate text message and an e-mail. It's very easy to set up.

I'm trying to talk to my other brother, my mother and a cousin about this. They don't seem terribly supportive of me.

Nobody likes a complainer, I guess.

In all seriousness, I think it's because it's embarassing to the family and with my mother, she thinks it would reflect poorly on her.
They're not taking his side. They just don't want me to talk about it.
    Should I respect their wishes?

It means the premise might appear torbival.

Well then say "strange" or "weird," hinky, that has no meaning.

Seriously, should I not talk about it because of my family's concerns?

He accused you of being a thief and called the cops on you, then decided that giving you free dry cleaning would make you two square? What an ass.
