I wouldn't bet on it (Nationwide sports betting)

Go start a thread on it. This one is about gambling.

(And, besides, I don't think they do have "unfettered" gun ownership.)

It's not hard to bet on sports in most locales, if you're dedicated to the proposition. Those interested in such propositions typically have friends who can introduce them to those who can provide access.

Looked up the rules and laws governing Canada's "unfettered" gun ownership yet?

Dude, I'd love to grab a dooby every once in a while (or bet a game), but I ain't about to go through that effort/risk. It may be minimal, but it's enough to ward me off.

So legalizing it will make it harder for people to cheat? Hmmm....

I can't see sports betting becoming legal nationwide, there are still a lot of people who are convinced the gambling is a stop on the path to hell.

I paid for my rent for three months when I lived in Vegas with profits from various bets on sports, including $1200 from the 2005 NCAA tournament.

Correct. Nevada has been doing this a long time and their Gaming Control Board and sportsbooks do a pretty good job overall.

But does anyone think our mostly inept state governments could even begin run their own sports books? No effing way. It would be a disaster and take corruption to a whole new level.

Not to mention that the house can have a subpar month, or two.

If the popular side won a Super Bowl, can easily envision the house of a state-run
sports-betting operation having a losing month. No way that happens in the Wonderful World of the Daily Number.
