    On the other hand, sometimes the best part of the story is the quote (or quotes).

    And shitty writing and shitty interview skills.

    If you're getting lame quotes, then you're probably asking lame questions. I know some people are difficult to get good quotes from and many coaches rely on the cliched bullshit. Writers who can ask good, insightful questions are a dying breed.

    I agree with you. I used to work with a guy who was always bitching about how unquotable the players and coaches were that he covered. I remember thinking, "I cover the same people you do, and my quotes don't suck."
