    Haven't seen one live, but the video of the original Broadway production is wonderful. It was my introduction to Sondheim, really.

    I just wish Mandy Patinkin would let anyone else get a word in edgewise on the commentary.

    He's great in the role, though, to be sure, as is Bernadette.

    That's a shame.
    SIPWG remains the only musical I've ever seen twice on stage.
    Toward the end of its run in NYC back in the 80s, after Mandy Patinkin returned to take one more lap.
    Then I saw in again in 06 in the London revival that eventually was brought to Broadway. It was better technically because they updated some of the staging, and it had so much more meaning to someone who'd lived another 20-plus years.
    I know I'll never see a better show, but I'll keep trying.
