In a continuing story, Florida's governor is a fucking asshole.

Everbank Stadium's parking lot has apparently been annexed by the St. John's River.

Anyone getting Facebook messages from those who live on the western side of the state mentioning they are safe?

Has any country fallen victim to more natural tragedies of late than Haiti? Unbelievable.

That's what happens when you have no national building code and a lot of houses are made of glorified cardboard or papier-mache.

South Florida building codes --- mandated after Andrew in 1992 --- are terrific.

Had $4,400 in damage to my house after Hurricane Wilma in 2005. Friend of mine whose house was built pre-1992 --- same basic concrete block construction and barrel tile roof --- had $30,000 in damage.

The Red Cross built six houses. The difference should be noticeable.
