How would you cover the Super Bowl?

In the late 1990s, I was part of a 26-person team sent to cover the Super Bowl.

We had three people there who wrote one game sidebar and that's it.

Both the Globe and Herald had over 20 for the Bears-Pats Super Bowl. Herald maxed out at around 15-16 after that, but it always included four from news, which included our dual-byline gossip columnists. Papers SHOULD have their gossip columnist at the Super Bowl if the home team's in it.

Gossip columnist? Now I know where to suggest they cut in the next round of layoffs.

That's just insane, although I do understand the logic of flying a couple of people in the morning of the game as opposed to spending the entire week there. Wonder how many they would send today?
