  2. simon, the cleveland stint has to be factored into the equation. that takes a lot of luster off the brass ring.

bledsoe would be a horrible move, because it's been two years since he last took a snap. he's not even stayed in shape. he might be a good third quarterback at this point, though, if he were willing to move back east for a bit.

the sad thing is, he could be starting by week 3 given belichick's track record.

How the fuck are they going to go 5-13? 5-11 and two losses in the playoffs? Redo the math.

BYH, in fairness to Belichick, 2000 was his roster turnover year. He let the vets on the way down play themselves out of his consciousness and took copious notes, but he didn't exactly coach that team up.

Apologies to the Jets fans, but you think maybe Brett Favre's thinking, "Damn, if I had stayed retired just a little longer..."

  6. belichick's record with bledsoe as the starter was 5-13.

PS: John McCain will drop Sarah Palin and make Spinning 27 his VP mate before Bledsoe and Belichick will get back together.

To be fair, that particular model Marino - when Belichick was with the jets - was on his last legs.

That said, Parcells has won little without Belichick by his side, absolutely. He is a hell of a coach, when he has personnel to work with. he did what he could with a dismal Browns team 15 years ago.

Simon: How good a coach was Belichick with the Browns?

Pats' success has as much to do with managing the salary cap as anything else. Belichick's improved, but he's not Bill Walsh.

But I thought Belichick was the greatest coach that ever lived.

The Bledsoe talk is funny. I always got the impression he liked football b/c of the security it provided him. Once he had enough money for generations of Bledsoes, he got out and never looked back. He had some chances to come back last year but didn't want to be a backup.

Plus, you think he wants to go back to Belichick? I imagine the thought going thru Bledsoe's head right now is "Fuck him."

That's the best choice if you want someone who can come in and manage a game right away...even if he kept ending up on the injury list with "general soreness" with the Panthers last year at age 89.
