How to build an agate Web page

Anyone know how? Or does anyone know where I can find out how to do it?

Our paper has a decent on-line version, but when it comes to sports, we are woefully behind our competitors and it seems like we are often afterthoughts of the entire paper (boo hoo).

So, I'm figuring the best way to get something done is to do it yourself. Not looking to improve our entire Web page, but I want to build a nice agate page where teams, players and schedules are linked to more infomation. Problem is, I majored in journalism, not Web designing, though I can find my way around a computer.

Would my best bet be to go to the local Barnes & Noble and find a "Building a Web page for Dummies" or is there a more sports-specific version out there?
