How many bowl games?

    On rare occasions. Bowls do it multiple times every season.

    True dat.

    But those bowls don't enable the .500 team to play for the national championship.

    But the 8-8 Chargers won a legitimate title.

    But had the AFC playoff participants been determined the same way college bowl teams are, the Chargers wouldn't have made it to a game that lets you compete for the championship because other teams with better records would have filled the available slots.

    Different systems, that's all.

    I just don't get all bent out of shape over a 6-6 team making a lower-level bowl, or by the plethora of bowls. It's a nice reward for players who work hard 12 months of the year (well, if they worked harder they might not be 6-6) and people can watch it, or not. The bowls are entertainment, and I enjoy watching college football.
