How can Tebow be a Nike spokesman and get away with it?

So I've seen the cool new Nike spots during the NCAA tourney, and I went to sparqtraining.com, the wwwsite they're pimping (if you don't feel like going to the site itself, it's more about training and training equipment rather than the shoes).

Lo and behold, there's something about Tebow and how "he's changed quarterbacking." I'm not arguing that point, and I know that UF is a Nike school, but isn't it kinda odd an active college player is identified by name on a wwwsite that's promoting a brand and its products?

Ummm, that should be illegal, yes.

I'm trying to think of another instance where a college athlete did a promotional spot for something other than the NCAA and I can't come up with one, but isn't the legal/illegal lynchpin the issue of compensation?

Maybe the NCAA can't stop focusing on that thread that has the pic of Tebow and Ms. Zeppelins 2007 posted hundreds of times.
