    The Nats were in the playoffs one year, and (unless you're the wild card team) there are a few days off between the last game of the regular season and the first game of the playoffs. I was assigned to cover the workouts on the days preceding the first playoff game -- hey, the Nats are excited, here's a glowing feature, etc. The Nats PR people said, nope, the workouts are closed. MLB PR was horrified and ordered the Nats to open the workouts so we could, you know, provide some FREE PUBLICITY.

    The Diamondbacks were excellent to work with during their early days, including the World Series season. Mike Swanson was there then, and I assume the Royals are easy to work with since he's there now.
