Will they stupid up the uniforms like they've done to the Houston Rockets?

I'm sure there's some negotiations going on or will be soon enough. But I doubt Pittsburgh will give Lemieux and the Pens the best offer. And the city that gives the best offer wins the Pens.

I saw you mention it in the other thread and I thought then, well, how easily could the building be retrofitted to add luxury boxes? So I checked tonight and found that they already existed. It was news to me too. :)

Actually, I didn't mention it as statement there. I asked you about Winnipeg's arena and someone else answered it.

Either way, Mario has one more miracle to work in Pittsburgh.

OK but only if a bunch of us are quoted in the St. Pete Times bashing the logo.

As has been mentioned in the other thread, the Penguins and their casino partner left a bad taste in everyone's mouths with the attempt to strong-arm the Pennsylvania Gaming Commission. The city, Allegheny County and the state have yet to fold. Bettman would cream his pants if the team could relocate to a larger market. See ...

Heck, ESPN pimped the team at the Mall every night on SportsCenter. They had to be one of the most lovable non-winners of all-time. Yet they walked out the door to Carolina and played in front of crowds that made the Mall look like Penn Station at rush hour.

Hartford to Carolina? Since when have owners been loyal to a city in the NHL. Weren't the North Stars selling out their arena before moving to Dallas? Winnipeg and Quebec both had loyal local followings.

I think the order of preference would be

    1) Las Vegas
    2) Kansas City
    3) Winnipeg

I don't cover the NHL, but it seems like a no-brainer to me. Vegas is the perfect spot for the NHL. The NBA isn't going there, at least as long as David Stern is commissioner, the NFL will never go there and they've been pussyfooting around with MLB for so long that it seems like a lost cause. The Pens in Vegas would be an attraction, there's not much sports competition, and you've got an exciting young team that is going to be very good for a long time.

10 years ago, when UNLV still had a marginal hoops program, I'd laugh in your face. They already had pro basketball there.

Now, LV probably could support an NHL team for 41 games.

The league has had exhibition games played in Vegas the last two years.
