AJC reporting Giles was released. Nobody wanted to trade when they knew what Atlanta's salary constraints were. Meanwhile, Eric Gagne to Rangers and Miguel Batista to the Mariners.

When any sane person can make sense out of any move Bill Bavasi makes in Seattle, let me know, because I'd love an explanation on how he has managed to bury the Mariners.

Daisuke Matsuzaka has reached a six-year, $52 million deal with the Red Sox, SI.com's Jon Heyman has learned.

Oh, it can't be that bad. I mean the guy did get rid of the team's only decent long reliever/future closer or good starter to clear a spot for the guy *sarcasm*

Wasn't he in the Pirates' organization at one point? Is the stupidity contagious? (I say this as a Pirates fan).

Given the current market, where Ted fucking Lilly gets ace-type money, this seems like a good deal for the Sox. Well, until Matsuzaka tears his labrum.

Yup. Pitched one game for the Bucs back in 1991. I'm still blaming Littleyield.
