    Homicide =/= murder.

    The headline is premature. Does Deadspin have copy editors?

    Thread title is lame now.

    How about: "Murder at the Kentucky Derby?"

    Question mark is the key.

    "There are homicide detectives on the scene. They are investigating any type of death regardless of the manner of how it occurred," said Alicia Smiley, spokewoman for Louisville Metro Police.

    Yeah. A little premature. Possible this person went on a post-Derby bender and died of alcohol poisoning. Or any number of other things.

    It has been ruled a homicide according to Smiley.
