Looks like there have been tremendous advances since my last Home Entertainment system purchase. Looks like new digital systems are a lot more intuitive in how all components link.

    Any recommendations.

Interesting. I was just thinking about this. When I bought my latest TV, it came with a surround sound package. One of those less-than-awesome systems, maybe RCA or something. Honestly, I'm very happy with it, though. But yeah, I've also heard about these digital, wireless systems. I'm guessing their butt-expensive.

    Get Apple TV. It's fantastic.

Depends what you want to do, I suppose. 3-D home theater? Or music loud enough to make the neighbors move?

3-D TV's will be dead in a year or two.

    BOSE, BOSE, BOSE, BOSE, BOSE

I can't recommend a Bose surround system enough. When we bought the 82" TV with 3D and all the bells and whistles I thought that was enough.
Then we broke down and got the Bose home theater system.
I wouldn't ever watch any movie, football game or video game the old way every again.
Worth the 1,500 I spent and much more

Bose stuff is pretty good but tends to be overpriced for what you get. However, for an all-in-one solution, they're a good way to go if you can afford it.

When buying speakers you have to go listen to them. Find a reputable retailer in your area (smaller independent places are best) and listen to a bunch of different speakers to see what you like.
