Emmy voters who snubbed it couldn't have been more cruel.

I remember two or three years ago here, either you or I or maybe both looked at a list of the top box office movies of the year. I think you had to get down to 13th or 14th before you could find a movie that wasn't either a straight remake or a new spin on old characters.

People rightfully talk about Chick Hearn's performance in Fletch, but I always preferred him in Gilligan and the Globetrotters.

Even the Coen Bros. aren't above adapting a book or older film.

Ed Helms is funny, but so wrong to be Frank Drebin. It should be somebody known mostly as a dramatic actor who has comedic timing, who could play it hilariously straight. Maybe Jon Hamm.

Gravity and World War Z are the only movies in the top 10 for the year that are not either sequels or remakes.

Hey, the poker boom is over, but how about Rounders 2?

But there's also more in the multiplex wasteland of the suburbs.

I caught up with Amour and The Master on streaming this year. Great films but I really lost out when I didn't bother to see them in the cinema.

I'm still waiting for the reboot of Blazing Saddles where instead of the old west they move it to Harlem or L.A. and have someone on top of a building shouting out "the new chief is a (honkey/cracker/fill-in racist white term here)"

I haven't played poker in a long, long time, but I'm still seeing that opening night.

Gilligan's Island would be a great concept for a porn version.
