Holliday credits McGwire for his improvments

And a selfish prick, too. Wouldn't even lift a finger for those in need.

Ozzie Smith sucked as a shortstop, too.
Idiotsnetwork, do you spend your time thinking up the next stupid thing to say or does it come naturally?

To be fair, Ozzie was really one-dimensional.

All he did was help you win baseball games.

Yeah, with his glove, his arm, his legs and his bat. But the lazy fucker never learned how to hit home runs. Hall of Famer my ass.

McGwrire should have shortened up with two strikes. Slugging around .600 was KILLING his team.

I don't think anyone said McGwire was a bad player; he just had one tool. Hitting 70 home runs sure didn't hurt the Cardinals, neither did his 49 hurt the 1987 Athletics, and his 33 helped Oakland win the 1989 World Series. He just was far from a complete player.

Someone may have mentioned this, but...

If the problem is associating with McGwire, shouldn't somebody be bashing Mike Gallegos for inviting McGwire to the park? If there's nothing wrong with McGwire being on the premises, then there can't be a problem with Holliday talking to him.

Not like McGwire said, "load up on your back foot...then stick this needle in the other cheek. That way, the shot won't hurt as bad."

There's nothing wrong with McGwire hanging around anywhere in baseball. It's just the perception that comes along with him that players and managers and front-office folk have to understand. Steroids or not, McGwire had a great power swing. Holliday would be foolish not to listen to McGwire's advice on how to tweak his swing -- and that's all -- if he wants to hit for more power. After all, the dude does own 583 home runs.
