Heyman to leave Newsday

    To me, Culpepper's writing always seemed to have an elegant style that really seemed wasted in newspapers. And for somebody who has more talent than most of us have in our big toes, Chuck was always a nice, down-to-earth person.

    I'm almost certain everyone had it the same time. I mean, come on. They all saw Giambi the day he showed up. I don't think anyone missed it.

    Chuck Culpepper is a really, really nice guy.

    I really think it's a bad idea for him to leave. Why would anyone leave newspapers for the information superhighway?

    Agree. Nicest guy I've met and worked with in the business. His writing, though, is an acquired taste. It's not for everybody, and it is certainly not boilerplate newspaper writing.
