We are accepting applications for a possible sports reporting opening. We're looking for someone who can do more than simply provide competent game coverage; we want someone who writes well, looks for interesting features, isn't afraid to handle some issues reporting, and can take a photo, provide some video, do live blogging. We cover a large rural territory where you'll be as likely to report on rodeos as baseball, where you'll handle traditional sports and a host of outdoors and recreational activities. Some newsroom experience helpful; recent grads welcome to apply. The Herald and News (a six-day morning daily at 15,000 circ.) and heraldandnews.com newsroom is located in Klamath Falls, Oregon — a beautiful part of the world. Send cover letter and resume to Editor Steve Miller at smiller@heraldandnews.com.

Decent paper, nice building in the middle of open spaces. They have a community college and several high schools. Way too far to even think about U of Oregon or Oregon State Univ.

Not a bad entry-level or second job for someone looking to gain experience.

And the damn college basketball coach in the land, Danny Miles.

Having worked in KF for two years, this is a good gig. Not a bad place to live if you are outdoorsy. Kinda isolated though.

Coach Miles is a class act, one of the nicest people I met in Klamath.

That neck of the woods is a little bit country. Good duck hunting, hiking, fishing. Town a touch run down but eats up its preps.

I hear that Steve Miller is a real joker. And a smoker. And a midnight toker.

Took quite a path to end up at KF. From Phoenix, Arizona all the way to Tacoma. I believe he also had stops in Philadelphia, Atlanta, L.A. and Northern California.

Did he find someone to rock with him?
