    Steely Dan.

Love them or hate them, an impressive body of work fusing many genres. Whether I'm up or down their music stimulates me.

The Flying Buyrrito Brothers. Classic country rock by the inventors of the genre. And anything solo by Gram Parsons, and early Emmylou (Elite Hotel, Luxury Liner, Quarter Moon).

Steve Earle too. "Satisfied" and "Copperhead Road" are his staples but I'm sure you knew that. "Gettysburg" by the Brandos.

    PS: Keep your head down.

Another great one to check out is Whiskeytown's "Stranger's Almanac".

This reminds me. Pick up the Byrds' "Sweetheart of the Rodeo," tbf. I can almost guarantee you'll love it. Seminal alt-country album. Definitely one of my deserted island picks.
