And after Clarksdale, maybe a jaunt across Highway 6 to The University. En route to Tupelo, of course.

Ottawa is actually very nice with the Canadian parliament buildings, but I haven't been in 20 yeas. They do cool things on the river in the winter... if you're headed that way, gotta do the Rock n' Roll hall of fame in Cleveland.
You could cut through Detroit and do the casinos. They're nice. Or drive to Florida.

Here's what I would do. I would sign up for the weekly e-mail sale fairs for American and United. When you get the e-mails for when you want to go, find the coolest spot. Maybe you have a backup drive plan in case there isn't anything good.

  7. No Tunica, though.
That place is, as the dead Doc would say, decadent and depraved.

    Nope. Just the lake.

In the spirit of Todd Palin, you drive to Upper Michigan and hit the snow machine snowmobile trails through the Hiawatha National Forest. Nice little towns like Munising have places where you drive up and park your snowmobile while you get some grub and some heat. Or you could hit the cross-country ski trails instead, if combustion engines aren't your thing.
