For the last three weeks, I have been trapped in corporate hell, training to be a customer service rep for Telus Communications. It's been all about learning how to work a phone and how to save whiny people $5 on their phone bill, while convincing them to spend more money.
I knew from the beginning it was not my bag. Exactly how was I going to, at the end of the day, feel like I've accomplished something and given something of myself to the world? (Yes, this was always something that gave me pleasure by putting a newspaper to bed every night.)
Tomorrow morning, I start as the communications specialist for a non-profit organization.
Any advice on how to approach my new job is most welcome.

Congrats! That's so exciting. I don't have time to give my advice now (I basically ran communications for a statewide campaign for a summer before going back to school) so I'll send it in a PM later.

Don't start any drunk communications with them, or flash them your rackage.

Just go in every day knowing you're not working for crappy wages so the fucktard publisher can add on to his house.

Does Jelenic own any not-for-profit organ-eye-zations in Canada?

Spend most of your workdays on here and you'll be just fine.

    :D

    Congrats!

Watch out for the non-profits. Working for one can be more disillusioning than working for a corporation or even (gasp!) for a newspaper.

I'll leave that to you here. Besides, I already showed the boss the rack. Wore a nice, low-cut blouse that day.
