The problem with Canada is you have a significant segment of the one province that either elects MPs who want an independent Quebec or want to bleed the federal government for every dollar it can.

Trudeau and Mulroney's policies pushed spurred the formation of the Bloc. It's amazing you have a country where the second-largest province didn't even approve of its legal framework (1982 patriation).

The Supreme Court didn't help when it ruled the federal government needed the approval of the provinces to patriate the Constitution according to unwritten convention, but didn't specify how many provinces needed to support it.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out why Quebec doesn't fit in.

 

Sorry, the historical basis for whatever arguments you're throwing out here are what exactly? That Wolfe beat Montcalm on the Plains and those damn Quebecers should just step into line?
