Hanna Rosin is so mad that female Olympians pose in their underwear

    I like Hanna Rosin. Usually.

But I think she's slut shaming a little bit here.

And I also think that sites like Slate and Jezebel give standing ovations when overweight women prace around in their underwear, but get angry when gorgeous Olympians do the same.

    http://www.slate.com/articles/sports/fivering_circus/2014/02/sochi_olympics_more_female_athletes_in_lingerie_than_ever_before.html

I do understand her point: Why do women bow to the male need to sexualize female athletes? And, well, why do men need to sexualize female athletes?

I just don't think she's going to answer these complicated questions in a 20-inch Slate column.

    Dang it!

I was hoping that the link might take me to photos of female Olymians posing in their underwear.

Is it so hard to believe that female athletes like to sexualize themselves, regardless of what men think?

No need to overthink this stuff, folks.

Why do women bow to the male need to sexualize female athletes? Because they like to.

And, well, why do men need to sexualize female athletes? Because they like to.

And thanks to Hanna Rosin for directing me to the hot young chicks with perky tits.

This. I washed my hands of trying to understand feminism today when I came across an article eviscerating Frozen for being misogynist.

Yeah, I know gender issues aren't simple. But the following seems simple enough: Men like to look at women's bodies more than men like to look at men's bodies.

If advertisers thought they could sell the NBA with more shirtless LeBron, and LeBron - or at least a single guy - thought he could sell his sport and appeal to women, then I think all parties would be on board, as well.

I took a seminar on pornography and obscenity law once.

It took me a long time - to this day, in some ways - to get rid of the feeling coming out of it that women hate men, women particularly hate sex with men, and that men are horrible for desiring sex from women.

It doesn't take a lot of imagination to piss off a feminist. [/georgecarlin]
