I saw GNR on one of its first major tours in 1988. They blew Aerosmith (who they were opening for) off the stage...

I saw them in the Summer of 1991 right before the Illusion albums came out and they played almost four hours. This band, when they were in their prime, may have been the best band of my lifetime...

I saw them twice with Metallica in 1992 and I used to love Metallica, but Metallica at its absolute best couldn't touch GNR... Not even close...

I liked The Spaghetti Incident. I tried to talk my fiancee into making Look At Your Game Girl our first dance at the wedding, but she balked. Can't imagine why.

There's no way this album will do anything but flop.

Even if it's great (which I highly doubt...my guess is G-n-R's core audience has little interest in Axl's excesses and his desire to prove he's still relevant), it's NEVER going to sell enough to a.) match the hype and b.) make back even a fraction of what it cost to make. Daughtry's debut was the biggest album of last year sell and it sold about three million copies. That's a drop in the bucket for a band whose debut sold five times that figure.

This, of course, assumes it ever fucking comes out.

I won't buy it, cause Axl sucks.

Can you dub me a copy of it though? I'd like to drive around listening to it in the tape deck of my 1989 Bonneville.

    It's either Bubbler or RAMBO.

It amazes me how many people want this to be good. People are already talking themselves into the notion that this album is good, despite every shred of common sense (the length of time to record, the excess, the suckitude of Axl Rose even before he went nuts) suggesting otherwise.

I'm certain it has more to do with nostalgia than anything else.

People of my age group anticipating the a new GnR album = people of my parents' age group anticipating a new Stones album.

The truth is, neither captures the vitality of the original stuff.

    I haven't been this excited about a long-awaited follow-up since "Caddyshack 2!"
