According to Houston police on the scene, the suspect is described as a white male, 50-52 years old, blonde hair, no facial hair, glasses, slim build, 5' 9", bluish gray color shirt, gray or blue jeans. They also said he was barricaded on second floor, northwest corner near stairwell. There is no word of any motive at this point.

Jacobs Engineering, which provides scientific consulting for businesses and government agencies, says its their understanding that the person in the building is one of their employees. They would not comment further.

Gunman barricaded in a room, i.d. not known...police haven't established communication....unsure whether he's alive or dead.

Any word on casualties? I hope there aren't any.

Reportedly two gunshots earlier, but no one knows whether there are casualties....they're trying to account for all employees, building was evacuated.

And in the absence of any developments, coverage seems fixated on the speed of the emails alerting NASA employees to the shooting. A week ago, that would not have been an issue.

Someone must have been shot, they're rushing in with a gurney...conjecture that the gunman committed suicide.

The country's going nuts and the stock market has never been higher. Strange.

NEW YORK - Wall Street bounded higher Friday, hurtling the Dow Jones industrial average to a record close approaching 13,000 as investors celebrated a week of surprisingly strong earnings reports. The major indexes all had their third straight winning week, their longest such streak since October.
