The future Mrs. Henry and I went to a hotel bar in Nashville after a Billy Joel show in 1979 or so and the whole band, minus Mr. Joel, turned up for drinks. We had a few chuckles with them.

I've always liked the sax solo on The Wanderers by Dion- Did some research found the Sax player as a man named Buddy Lucas.

Also love the solo when Darlene Love does Baby Come Home on Letterman played by Bruce Kepler

In the Bobby Keys category, don't forget "Rip This Joint."

I'm sorry if I left anyone out, but I am tired of digging through Youtube.

Holy shit, Webster, digging into the 70s was well worth it. And that is a great song by the Blasters.

That Bruce clip I found for Jungleland is jaw-droppingly amazing.

Very good work. I never realized how many great sax songs were out there.

In terms of sax solos in Springsteen songs "Jungleland" is No. 1 (even though the studio version is several different solos pieced together brilliantly with great mixing)

No. 2 IMHO is one that hasn't been mentioned yet - "The Promised Land"

No. 3 would be Thunder Road - Bruce's greatest song, but in terms of the sax solo it sits behind the other two.

No. 4 would be Born to Run

Then in any order you can Sherry Darling, Bobby Jean, Ramrod, I'm Goin' Down, Dancing in the Dark, etc.

They were all on fucking fire that night in 1978.

Probably there has never been a group of such talented rock muscians playing together at one time, and there probably never will be.
