Following in the Genesis/solo vein, I'll throw out "Take Me Home" by Phil Collins, which is my fave song of his and a really good video (particularly on Pop Up Video).

    "November Rain."

I mean c'mon. Slash didn't even wear a shirt to the wedding. Awesome.

Yes! Truly a work of art.

    Also, Knives Out
    — a great "one-take" piece.

Off the top of my head: Pearl Jam's "Do The Evolution", Foo Fighters' "Big Me" and Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers' "Last Dance with Mary Jane."

And how the hell has nobody mentioned "Trapped in the Closet" yet?

Nice catch. No doubt one of PC's better solo efforts ...

I think "Take On Me" by A-Ha is still pretty much the gold standard for music videos.

    A few other cool ones...

Alan Parsons Project - "Don't Answer Me":

Seems dated now, 27 years later, but I always loved "Vienna" by Ultravox:

Everyone knows the first video MTV ever played was "Video Killed the Radio Star"... but do you know which video the founders of MTV showed to investors to convince them that videos were a real art form? Answer: "Skateaway" by Dire Straits.

One from one of my all-time favorite bands. Love the giant heads. "Doors of Your Heart" by the English Beat:

One semi-modern selection -- "Fell In Love with A Girl" by the White Stripes, done in Legos:

I did a search to try and jog my memory, yet this one came up multiple times. I'd never seen it until a few minutes ago - quite powerful.

"Hurt" by Johnny Cash, six months before his death.
